about Jennifer Paros
First off, I have no middle name. No real explanation there. My parents said it was because they couldn't afford one - but that's an old joke. When I was little, I asked if I could make my middle name "Snoopy." My mother suggested I think about it for a couple weeks and if I still wanted to she'd take me to make it official. At that time, apparently, I did not have the capacity to think about something for fourteen days without forgetting or losing interest. I would suggest that if you feel inspired - do not wait two weeks before acting. It's a dream killer. But to this day, in some very small circles, I am known as Jennifer Snoopy Paros.
For most of my life I have written in some form or other, starting with writing stories when I was around eight years old and keeping a journal when I was nine. I wrote my first book (for children) when I was in college. It was a children’s novel entitled, The Missing Heart. The writing of this book and the desire to illustrate it led me to study art -something I’d always enjoyed but never thought I could really do. From there I went on to earn my second degree (the first was in fiction writing) in fine arts in painting, drawing, and video. I love to write and make pictures because they allow and encourage me to appreciate what is meaningful to me and turn that appreciation and love into something see-able (like an image) or read-able (like an essay or story) and hopefully, feel-able. In all my work, the feeling is the most important part to me; it's what makes me want to draw or write in the first place. The feeling is the gift I get from doing the work and it is what I most want to share.
These days, my story ideas are mainly for young adults and adults, and I like to write articles for an online magazine called Author. I live in Seattle, Washington and have a husband, two grown kids, and two cats named Henry and Birdie.
